Nice Slice

The Ethiopian dinner was fabulous, and very photogenic, but the combination of low light and very crowded-together tables meant no pictures. The collard greens were the highlight of the expedition, though all of it was good.

Yesterday I took a field trip to Providence, RI to visit Nice Slice, which is, as far as I know, makes the closest decent vegan pizza pie. It was, as usual, amazingly good.

  3. It was so good. I’m almost glad it’s an hour away because otherwise I’d be eating it all the time.

  4. Hey Veganman! I like your blog! I was in Providence last weekend to visit family, and we went to the Garden Grille Restaurant, which is our absolute favorite. When you eat there, you realize they truly understand the difference between something that happens not to have cheese all over it and real vegan cuisine. We are only there a couple of times a year, but I would love to try Nice Slice. Where is it?

  5. wingraclaire, Nice slice is located at 267 Thayer St, near RISD. They’ll do any of their pizzas vegan, substituting fake meat for real meat and vegan cheese for dairy cheese. Worth a trip!

I’m going to have to give Garden Grille a try next time I’m in the area. Thanks for the tip!

  6. wow, is that a nice slice pie??? i’ve never had that. maybe you have to order it by the pie in order for them to make the veggie pizza, because usually all they have is their vegan bbq chicken sitting around.

but i agree, as a thayer st. frequenter, nice slice is damn good vegan pizza.

  7. Gowri,

Yes, Nice Slice will do any of their pies (even the Bounty Killer!) as a vegan pie if you ask, so you’re not stuck with the single slices.

It’s a great pizza, worth driving down from Boston for.
